Using colorful fabrics, haberdashery, and other textile-based techniques, Guusje Slagter evokes a fairy-tale-like world. In her work, manifestations of living structures are removed from their original context and reassembled into new compositions, where the boundaries between plant, flower, body, and landscape dissolve.

Her work begins with drawings and often develops into large-scale installations that are assembled directly within the space—spreading across walls, floors, and ceilings alike. Soft, organic forms emerge throughout, offering a contrast to a rigid society that tends to categorize and compartmentalize.
